Since Sunday I’ve been thinking some more about how we need to take time to listen to God. If Jesus walked in to your house to have a cup of coffee or tea with you, how would you interact with him? I think this is a good question to ponder:

– How would we welcome him in to our house? Are there things (magazines, DVD’s) that we would put out of sight?
– What would our body language be? Would we sit arms folded looking bored or would we be on the edge of our chair hanging off his every word?
– What would we say to him? Would we mutter a few words or would we see the holes in his hands and praise him?
– Lastly, would we do all the talking and present him with a list of needs and then show him the door, or would we be willing to sit and listen?

The truth is that Jesus is with us in spirit, and how we interact with him is just as important in spirit as it would be in the flesh. If I sat before Jesus, I imagine would just want to listen to what he wanted to say to me. He created me, and then he died for me. As followers of Christ, we have the privilege to talk with him each day, and that talk should always be a two way conversation. I need to be ready to hear from him and the best way to do that is to be like Samuel and say “Speak Lord for I am listening”. If you want to hear from Jesus, then read his word and ask him to speak to you, then take the time to LISTEN.

Looking forward to seeing you at the prayer service tonight at 6:30pm.

Blessings
